NBS Tukoko University defeated Gigira Laitepo Central in Round 7

NBS Tukoko Uni made a second half resurgence to beat competition leader Gigira Laitepo 3-2 on Saturday.

Down 1-1 in the opening half, Tukoko scored two fast goals through substitute Gari Moka with flanker Gerard Lashel to unput the visitors in front 3 - 2 and eventually seal the match.

Tukoko University lifted the tempo with midfielders Sowera Guti and Kohu Liem dictating play for the strikers.

It took only a few minutes when Guti slipped a through- ball to find Moka out wide who volleyed past Central Coast goalkeeper David Aua to level the scores 2-2.

The visitors continued to find lapses in Central Coast's defensive line that saw Lashel find the target for the match winner.

Tukoko Uni struck first when flanker Armstrong Peka carved a well- placed right shot over Aua for the opener in less than a minute.

However, Gigira leveled through Tau Winnie who slipped one past Tukoko goalkeeper Danny Kali.

Central had another chance to push ahead when Reginald Davani had Kali stretching in what could have been a classic goal had it gone in. However, Gigira Laitepo took the lead when Nathaniel Lepani scored for a spot- kick to go into the break leading 2-1.

Not only did the visitors pull off a win but also denied their opponents any chance of extending their lead on the competition table.

In Goroka, Hekari hit back with a 5-2 win over Petro Souths after a disappointing 2-1 loss to Besta PNG United last Wednesday and in Lae, CPL Eastern Stars edged Besta United 1- 0 after a long struggle in the second half.

The competition table has Hekari sitting on the top spot with 13 points, followed by Gigira Laitepo on 12 points, Eastern Stars on 8 points, Bulolo United 4, Tukoko Uni 4 and Petro Souths 3.
