The first match will be the curtain raiser between 2012 Telikom NSL finals runners-up, Eastern Stars FC and NC Oro FC at 3.30pm local time.
Eastern Stars FC has been taking part in the semi-professional competition for the past six seasons. This year the team has undergone a complete makeover fielding a new team who are ready to take the field this year.
Meanwhile Oro, a new comer to the competition, will field a young side which will be testing their strength against the experienced stars.
New Kids on the Block FC Port Moresby will face a baptism of fire when they take on champions Hekari United FC straight after the opening by Sports Minister Justin at 6.15pm in the evening’s main match.
The FC Port Moresby players come from all four regions of PNG which will build a fan- base that extends throughout the country.
Hekari has a lot of experienced players who will be taking the field against the new comers including striker Kema Jack, David Muta, Eric Komeng and Leslie Kalai. All of them are mindful that any silly mistakes will cost them the match if they don’t stick to the basics.
Meanwhile Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium will play host to Welgris versus Besta PNG United while Kimbe will, for the first time, stage the WNB Tuvur who will play Gigira Laitepo Morobe FC all kicking off following the main game at 6.15pm.
