The Papua New Guinea Football Association is still awaiting the transfer of Land Titles to them from the Government for the Wabag and Kimbe soccer projects. Ground Breaking ceremonies were staged last year for the two projects but construction work cannot start without the Land Titles.According to the FIFA Development Officer, Glen Turner who was in the country lastweek, there were several talks held with the concerned authorities including the Deputy Prime

Minister and Ministefor Lands and Physical Planning, Dr Puka Temu but the process is still slow.

The projects are part of the FIFA commitment of U$ 1 million to fund 17 soccer pitches in Papua New Guinea for the development of the code.

So far, only two provinces have come forward while the other provinces have not put their hands up to have these pitches built in their provinces.

Turner says the response is very frustrating, given that the funds are available for these projects to go ahead but concerned authorities are very slow.

Sporting administrators in the country always state that there are no proper sporting facilities in the country to cater for the athletes and with this commitment from FIFA, the Government cannot at least lend a hand to identify land in the country to build these pitches.
