Downloadables Member Links Big Boost for Soccer Referees
There is a boost in the Papua New Guinea soccer referees in the country. The new PNG referee recognized now by FIFA and on the 2009 FIFA Assistant Referee listing are John Koris (LFA-Lae), Mukite Manggin (Hagen), Charles Romo (Madang) David Charles, Ian Ikowari (PMSA), and Peter Paliwa (Bulolo). After their nomination by PNGFA last year FIFA has listed Peter Paliwa for 2009 FIFA Referee Listing and the others for FIFA Assistant Referee Listing for this year. FIFA ordained them to officiate International matches anywhere in the Pacific and the world. The number of FIFA Referees from PNG on the FIFA Listing has now increased to three after the inclusion of the whistle blower from Bulolo when he was added onto the list together with Job Minan and Salaiau Sosogan who are already existing FIFA Referees both from Port Moresby. PNG had only Inimbu Pabia (Wau) and Paul Jan (Hagen) were listed on the 2008 FIFA Assistant Referee Listing last years but it has now increased to seven with the inclusion of the five new FIFA Assistant referees listed this year. It is the result of a major improvement on the technical side of the game with much hard work done by the current Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) administration in developing and promoting the PNG local referees to the world standard. This is a big boost in a shorter period of time when six PNG referees were accepted by the world soccer body for the 2009 FIFA Listing which has not been done before.
