13 Females complete Basic Referee Course in Simbu

A basic referee’s course hosted by the Simbu Soccer Association saw a good number of females take part in the course.

PNGFA Facilitator, Mr Jimmy Warai says the course covered areas in the laws of the game, which gave the participants a knowledge on how to apply the laws as well as other areas.

Warai adds there are changes that are done to the laws of the games at certain intervals and it is necessary for the referees to know this in order to apply them properly.

Majority of the participants came in from the different LLGs within the province and were eager to learn.

“This course was timely and very beneficial for the association and I was very happy to see a good number of females in this course and I hope that this will go a long way for them,” he adds.

Simbu Soccer Association president Daina Uran thanked Warai for giving his best to train her referees.

Uran the lone women president of a PNGFA member association, acknowledged the thirteen women who took part in the training.

Warai said, out of the number of participants there were some identified to further their refereeing career.

There are plans in place to bring all the potentially identified referees to attend a regional seminar to further their skills and knowledge.
