26 clubs endorsed by NSL Management

With two more weeks left before the Papua New Guinea’s semi-professional soccer competition, the National Soccer League kicks off in the respective regions of the country, twenty six franchise clubs have been endorsed by the NSL management for the Board’s approval.

Eight franchises are confirmed to participate for the Southern Conference, seven franchises for Northern, five franchise for New Guinea Islands and Highlands has six.

According to NSL manager Leslie Babaga, the twenty six franchises has been endorsed by the PNGFA/NSL Management for the NSL Board’s approval of their participation.

“PNGFA/NSL Management has acknowledge the twenty six franchises and it’s now for the NSL Board to give the final approval and endorsement of which teams will take part in the 2019 season,” said Babaga.

However the deadline for Expression of Interest has been extended to Friday 18 January for clubs to finalise their EOI for submission while the competition will commences on Saturday 26 January with a soft launch on 25 January. 

The NSL is expecting six teams from NGI and Highlands respectively while there is likely to be eight teams participating in Southern while Northern Conference to have seven.

The Eight teams confirmed for the Southern Conference are Southern Strikers FC, Hekari United FC, Eastern Stars FC, Port Moresby United FC, PRK Gulf Komara FC, Central United FC, FC Bougainville and Star Mountain FC.

Northern Conference (Momase) has seven teams and they are Toti City FC, Morobe United FC, FC Morobe Wawens, Besta PNG United FC, Lahi FC, Markham FC and Tusbab Stallions FC.

Highlands has Aporro Mai FC, Enga Laima FC, Kagua Erave FC, Mt Hagen FC, Blue Kumuls FC and Simbu FC while New Guinea Islands has West Tribe FC, Admiralty Peliou FC, Chebu AROB FC, Radazz FC and Talasea FC.
