Alwin’s success create pathways for PNG players

PNG Kapul’s Alwin Komolong graduated last Sunday with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management from Northern Kentucky University.

This is a success story for PNG Football as Alwin captained the PNG U17 men’s team to New Zealand in February 2011 and was thereafter offered a scholarship by Liston College in Auckland to do his grade 11 and 12.

Alwin then won a US Soccer Scholarship with the Oklahoma State University and started his studies there in August 2013. He moved to Northern Kentucky University a year later. He was on the first 11 college football team at both universities and also managed to fit in all his PNG representative football duties while in school.

Alwin’s success in New Zealand and football has opened up opportunities for his younger brothers and other PNG football players.

His brothers Felix and Kusuga followed on to get school scholarships in New Zealand to do their grade 11 and 12.

Northern Kentucky University has now offered a full scholarship to Felix to continue on with his studies in August this year.

Alwin had also given names of some young PNG football talents to the Northern Kentucky University coaches and they will be watching the Kapuls games in the World Cup Qualifiers closely for more.
