Glen Turner, FIFA Development Officer, visited Papua New Guinea last week to implement a number of FIFA goal projects. He visited Kimbe last week to view the progress of the Regional Technical Centre for the New Guinea Islands.
Construction of the Regional Technical Center has been delayed but work is now progressing with the erection of the buildings and an administration office, store-rooms, changing rooms, toilets facilities and security fencing around the whole complex.
The establishment of the technical center in Kimbe is seen as a major boost for the people in the region as well as a better tool to tackle social issues such as unemployment. The Regional Technical Centre for the New Guinea Islands Region is expected to be completed by April this year and is supervised by the PNG Junior Vice President Kurt Reimann.
Glenn Turner also progressed the establishment of the Port Moresby Regional Technical Centre within the Sir John Guise Stadium complex. He is working closely with the PNG Sports Foundation to finalise the lease and contract to construct the facility which will include to international size football fields. It has taken PNGFA many years to find suitable land in the city for this vision to establish a new football center in the nation’s capital.
FIFA will conduct numerous courses on this year’s calendar including Refereeing, Coaching including a course for females only, and Medical Courses.
