Farina’s boys face it tough against Tahiti

The PNG side coached by Frank Farina must score to be in the contention playoff as; archrivals Fiji have scored three goals against the French Polynesia team in their opening match.

Both PNG and Fiji are currently leading group B while Solomon Islands and hosts New Caledonia are undefeated in group A.

Farina will be counting on the experiences of Gari Moka and Reginald Davani up front to score while skipper David Muta will control the midfield along with Andrew Lepani. Team Manager, Edward Tauloi is satisfied with the results and hope his charges continue their form against Tahiti and then Fiji.

Tahiti coach Eddie Estate will be relying on strikers Stanley Atany, Steevy Chong Hue, midfielder Lorenzo Tehau and fullback Vetea Tepa.

After Tahiti, PNG will face Kiribati and Fiji. Team Fiji are dominated by former Hekari United players, Simione Tamanisau (goalkeeper) who is also the captain, Alvin Singh, Malakai Tiwa, Tuimasi Manuca, Pita Bolaitoga and Lorima Dau.

The game between PNG and Fiji will determine the top placing in the pool.

In the women’s division, PNG will resume their competition today against New Caledonia. Women’s coach, Steven Mune is hoping that the girls will lift their performance against their opponents.

After New Caledonia PNG will meet the Solomon Islands in their last match to wrap up the pool matches before the finals.
