In what will be a massive three days of finals football, the Besta FA Cup is sponsored by International Food Cooperation under the brand name ‘Besta’.
The action will get underway with eight teams from the four regions who qualified for the semi finals, with PMSA men and women will represent the Southern region, Madang men and women will represent the Momase region, Goroka men and Kundiawa women for the Highlands region while New Guinea Islands regions we have Manus men and Kimbe women.
Also qualified to take part in the semi-final is LFA men, runner up to Madang in the Momase region and Higaturu Oil Palm Soccer Association team two, runner up to PMSA men in the Southern region.
The two runner-up teams are qualified because PNGFA executives committee members in a meeting in 2013 made a decision to have Southern Region and Momase region with a highest number of men’s team participating should have men’s runner-up qualified for the final.
Winners of the semi finals in both men and women will proceed on to the grand finals on 04th of October 2014 with Port Moresby Soccer Association will be looking to defend their title for the second time in a row while Madang is looking at making their intension known.
PNGFA General Secretary Dimirit Mileng said, due to renovation work being carried out at IKS in preparation for the PNG Games, the facilities won’t be ready in time for the Besta FA Cup finals.
He said, all the teams who are qualified for the finals are ask to prepare your travel arrangements prior to the date announced.
