Its aim is to optimise the performance of the team and to develop the full potential of each player, training and developing, directing, advising and correcting players and helping them to progress in life.
The FIFA MA Youth Course held last week in Lae saw 22 participants; of which four were females complete the workshop. The participants learnt much on many new aspects of coaching such the responsibilties of running development centres and the centres of excellence programs in their respective regions. This included both theory and practical sessions on coaching tactics and skills facilitated by FIFA Instructor Didier Chambaron and OFC Player Development Officer Daniel Shirley. .
The coaches are now equipped to identify players and organize two or three sessions a week in their respective region in development centres and the centre of excellence. PNGFA have identified player development as a key objective with the assistance from OFC and FIFA to help prepare the best and new generation of players.
FIFA Instructor Mr. Didier Chambaron facilitated the workshop and feels PNG has a big potential in coaching and by appointing these development officers for the workshop, it will surely build their knowledge of coaching to help build a specific frame work to develop better players at the different age groups.
Mr Chambaron is very positive and confident in this course that PNGFA is giving its best in terms of technical development in different region.
“This course was very successful in terms of building the foundation of new player development plan and it’s a specific program for PNGFA,” said Mr Chambaron.
Coaching includes understanding and managing the behaviour, educational and psychological needs of players. In addition organizational, scheduling tasks and the supervision of technical, tactical and physical aspects are critical including communication, team management and health.
