EMTV will be able to bring live and delayed coverage of all future OFC Championships, OFC Presidents Cup, FIFA World Cup qualifier matches, OFC Nations Cup and many more.
Through this partnership, EMTV will also have exclusive rights to Australia A-League matches in PNG.
During the swearing in for the agreement Telikom PNG CEO Michael Donnelly said from Telikom perspective, it does in way indicate the acquisition of EMTV, because it enables a form of partnership with OFC to bring this very important sport to PNG in a systematic and a long term sustainable way.
“It is a good outcome for the country, for the business and a nice partnership with OFC in which FM 100 will also broadcast the live coverage on air for the people who are unable to watch the coverage on television,” says Donnelly.
Meanwhile, the OFC President David Chung, who is also the PNGFA president, says that he is happy for the partnership and will work cooperatively with EMTV to push forward to cover also the FIFA events in the country as part of the initiative.
“As Head of the Oceania Football Confederation and the Papua New Guinea Football Association, I am very grateful for Telikom PNG for the initiative to work closely with EMTV and FM 100 to show off football in PNG,” he said.
In relation to coverage of FIFA games, and in particular the Under 20 Women’s World Cup in 2016 to be hosted in PNG, EMTV is at an advance stage of its negotiations with FIFA and a separate announcement will be made on this in the near future.
