Following a successful intensive camp held in Lae at the PNGFA Academy the National Coach Frank Farina has named the 23 man squad that will travel to Australia and then onto Noumea for the Pacific Games.
The bulk of the team is selected from the Telikom National Soccer League with the inclusion of 3 overseas based PNG players, making up the squad of 23.
“I’m sure the boys will be well prepared for the event with their performance they’ve shown during the five games they’ve played in the last friendly matches in Australia in June. It’s been a long time since the National team played together in a competitive international but with their improvement I have no doubt in the boys”, says Farina.
After the camp in Lae, the players are preparing for the departure on August 10th. The team will fly down to Australia for another two weeks preparation, at the Sports Super Centre at Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast, with five lead up matches before they leave for Noumea on the 25th August with the women’s team.
