PNG footballer leads Solomon Islands team

The Club has a unique PNG connection unlike all other franchise clubs in the league. The team is captained by former PS Ruts defender and stalwart Jeremy Masalo.

Masalo, known widely in Port Moresby Soccer Association competition and PNG National Soccer League as a rugged and aggressive defender, is now based in Honiara and leading this team on the field with his solid style of play.

The Team Manager of the team is Sorbie Valentine Pandiruo, also a fellow Papua New Guinean and a permanent resident in the Solomon Islands.

This newest soccer franchise club is in its second season in the S-League, and finished a credibly fourth in its 2013/2014 inaugural season.

X-Beam FC is one of the only a few franchise clubs not supported by a local government or a single franchise owner.

The club relies heavily on fundraising initiatives and sponsorship from both Solomon and PNG companies in Honiara.

X-Beam FC is a development side similar to PNG’s Besta PNG United NSL side and boasts the youngest team in the competition.

The club further hopes to secure a sister club arrangement with a PNG NSL franchise club to allow young PNG and Solomon Island import players to ply trade in each other’s semi-professional competitions.
