The dinner was attended by heads of government departments, the diplomatic corps, franchise owners, the business community, past and present players.
The dinner was proceeded with a warm welcome speech by the Chairman of the Telikom National Soccer League, Mr Isaac Lupari who thank the President Mr David Chung and former Chairman Mr John Kapi Natto for developing the National Soccer League.
This was further reiterated by Telikom Board Director, Mr Cedric Rondoke. Mr Rondoke acknowledged everyone who assisted in one way or the other for the successful staging of the 2013 season of the Telikom National Soccer league competition.
Special Guest Speaker for the night was Oceania Player of the Century and former New Zealand International Wynton Rufer who shared his exciting experiences in football, first hand.
Minister for Sports and 2015 Pacific Games, Honourable Justin Tkatchenko along with Minister for Public Enterprise, Honourable Ben Micah also presented their thoughts about football in the country and made a commitment of K1 million per year for sponsoring Telikom National Soccer League for the next 3 years.
Ben Micah said he was investing heavily in soccer to push for the revival of Melanesian Cup soccer tournament to be played among the Melanesian countries that include PNG, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia.
The event also witnessed the presentation of Minor Premier Cup to Hekari United Football Club with a cheque of K60, 000.00. FC POM runner up received a cheque of K25, 000.00, 3rd Place Besta PNG United FC received a cheque of K15, 000.00 and 4th place Gigira Laitepo Morobe FC a cheque of K10, 000.00.
The Ox & Palm Women’s National Soccer League 1st place ITI Northern Crusaders FC received a cheque of K10, 000.00 and runner up Panamex Softex Poro receive a cheque of K8, 000.00.
The special award for Most Valuable Player for Men was taken out by Besta PNG United midfielder Jacob Sebua. Jacob received a trophy and a cheque of K10, 000.00 and for the women Jacquelyn Chalau midfielder of ITI Northern Crusaders, received a trophy and a cheque of K2, 000.00.
Golden boot for 2013 was secured by Jamaal Seeto, Besta PNG United striker for the 2nd time in 3 years.
The evening ended with the auctioning of memorabilia and lucky door prizes.
