The official draw of the 2014 Besta FA Cup final was drawn out at IFC board room by PNGFA and IFC management in presence of the IFC staff and invited guest on Friday during the launching.
Manus is pooled against defending champion Port Moresby Soccer Association and Higaturu of Oro province.
In an interview with Manus coach, Mr Peter Sakael, he said the teams preparation have been long and hard for the final after qualifying in the New Guinea Islands region.
Manus, participating in this tournament for the first time and qualified for the finals congratulate IFC for this initiative in continuous sponsor in developing raw talents.
Peter Sakael who recently attended the FIFA C-Licence course last month at PNGFA Academy and for the first time tasked to coach the team in this Besta final, said he have learnt many thing during the course and have helped him a lot in building the team to the finals.
“From the things I’ve learnt through this course the boys have learnt much from me especially the game understanding from one level to another,” said Sakael.
“The boys have the skills but can’t put it in a real game situation and seeing what they learnt from me has given me that confidence to bring the team this far.”
Sakael said, Manus send 22 strong players to Lae with the experience of NSL player Eluida Pohei with the aim to win the Besta FA Cup final and bring the cup to Manus.
Match draw for Thursday 2nd October 2014 opening match as follows: Men Pool one – 8:00 am – Goroka vs Lae and Men Pool two – 9:40 am – Manus vs PMSA.
Women – 11:00 am Semifinal 1 – Kimbe vs Kainantu, 3:00pm Semifinal 2 – Madang vs PMSA.
