Kimbe set for Besta Challenge

The IFC sponsored Besta Cup is just around the corner and West New Britain Province is preparing their women and men’s teams to take part in the coming NGI challenge set to take place in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville this month.

As part of their preparations for the 2012 season of the Besta PNGFA Cup Tournament, a trial match was organised last Sunday. The organised event will give an opportunity for their selectors to identify the players in both the men and the women teams who will make up the team for the Besta Cup regional championships.

Kimbe proved to their opponents with their football skills which ended , NBPOL they were the hard team to defeat and forced a 4-1 lead in the final minutes in the men’s match while their women also defeated New Britain Palm Oil women 2 – 0.

Each member associations have been hard in training for the event which will be taking place in all the four regions in the country. Venues of the tournaments have been announced with the Momase regional to be held in Wau, while Bouginville will host the New Guinea Islands regional. Port Moresby’s Administration College will be the venue for the Southern Region and Highlands regional battle will be staged at the Goroka’s National Sports Institute in the heart of Goroka township.

The qualifying stages are expected to take place in Lae with the semi finals marked for 1st November while the finals showdown to be held on the 3rd November.

President of Kimbe soccer Association is making an appeal to interested soccer associations in the region to contact the association for more information on requirements to become provisional members to take part in the NGI regional Besta Cup Tournament
