Papua New Guinea Football Association has officially launched the Elite Player Academy in Lae, Morobe Province in September 2013with the support from, SVS/Da Edge, OFC and APFA for the Academy model
The program provides a player centred approach with a daily football program for boys aged 13-17 focusing on football development.
A total of 21 players are now currently involved in the program four times a week from Monday to Thursday at PNGFA Academy doing technical related training programs which suits the needs of players based on individual player development.
The program aim is to develop and strengthen in the country, identify, develop and educate players/staff to the highest possible level domestically and internationally by creating an elite football environment and inspire players to excel as role models in the community and create pathways leading to other careers in life.
SVS Manager Mr Roberto Gener Jr said they have observed that the program really have the future for the young players and want to see more young players from different schools be part of the program to be future national players for the country.
With the support from the Super Value Stores through this program it has seen one of its product Freddy Tupani got selected to be in the PNG U20 Men’s National team which recently participated in the OFC U20 Championship in Fiji.
“As the sponsor we see that the program is promising and through that program, one of its players got selected to be part of the PNG U20 Men’s National team and SVS is very keen in supporting such program which is centered on youth, helping them in sports and education as well,” said Gener Jr.

The program is a plus for football in Papua New Guinea not like before which gain good support from schools and communities and PNGFA thank Super Value Store for strengthening that partnership for eight months now.
