Straight after a gold medal winning performance at the recent Pacific Games in New Caledonia by the womens team, the heroines have another mommoth task and that is to qualify for the Olympics in the Oceania meet in Fiji next year.
The 2012 Olympics Qualifier will be held in Fiji in March to qualify for the battle against New Zealand at a later date.
The National Women’s Training for the 2012 Olympics Qualifiers in London are underway in Port Moresby and Lae Trespectively.
This is a reminder to our PNG National Women’s Football team that player attendance for the training is compulsory.
Training in Lae will held at the PNG Football Academy grounds on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays while Port Moresby based players will have their training sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting this Wednesday 9th November 2011 at 4pm.
According to Head Coach, Steven Mune, there is not enough time left for the preparations and both current national team players and those new players are asked to take training seriously. Players in other centres are also required to maintain their fitness.
Squad will be finalized by early next year before the team travels down for their one week camp in Gold Coast, Australia. They will then depart for the games in Fiji early in March.
