Hugo Canning joins Women’s National Soccer League

Hugo Canning Limited yesterday, came good with a sponsorship package of K50,000 and the naming rights to the women’s semi professional competition at the PNG Football Association office yesterday afternoon.

There are so far four teams from Port Moresby and four from Lae playing a three- round competition in thier own respective cities before the finals series begin.

The competition to be known as Ox & Palm Women’s National Soccer League is set to motivate and boost the development of soccer in the country. As of this weekend the competition will start using the sponsor naming rights “Ox & Palm Women’s National Soccer League”

Having being the queens of soccer in the Pacific Games for the last three years, the sponsorship is a boost to the competition which is set to highten the performance of women especially when PNG is to host the next 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

PNGFA’s Business Development Manager, Chris Brown said the company looked forward to this partnership with PNGFA.

Long- time international with forty- four caps and probably the most colourful soccer player in the country, Miriam Lanta said this should be a boost to the up and coming young players in the semi- professional competition
