Gonjuan elected unopposed

Incumbent Port Moresby Soccer Association President John Wesley Gonjuan was elected unopposed and was returned as president at the annual general meeting at Lamana Hotel on Sunday.

Gonjuan along with his two other executive was elected to their respective positions with Joseph Ealedona as Vice President and Thomas Taberia as Treasurer. Other members of the executive include John Yamin (Yarangs FC), Christine Tsuga (Mungkas FC), Leslie Babaga (UIFC), Rister Sovo (Leilam FC), Francis Moyap (UIFC) and Ricky Joseph (Manamb FC).

Gonjuan will serve his second term and will remain the head of Port Moresby Soccer Association for the next four years.

He thanked all the PMSA clubs for placing the trust in him with his executives.

“I am honoured to accept the AGM’s mandate to serve as president during the 2018-2022 period. Together we can tackle the problems that football faces today and show that our game remains very solid and strong,” Gonjuan says.

Gonjuan said the 2018 season proper competition is planned to commence on May 5th. The Executive will call a meeting with all clubs to discuss and finalize the matter before commencement.

He said PMSA will co-host the Southern Region Youth festival with POM School Soccer Association during the second term school holiday (June 25 to July 6). PMSA will also host the Southern Region Besta FA Cup in July 20th – 23rd.
