Good governance is the way forward to building a better PNG Football Association and its member associations, says president-elect John Kapi Natto.
Speaking to the media for the first time on Sunday after his election at the PNGFA Bi-annual Congress and the Election of the President at the Crowne Plaza on Saturday, Kapi Natto said it should reflect in the areas of compliance, transparency, accountability, responsibility and participation.
Kapi Natto, who was flanked by PNGFA secretary Dimirit Mileng and PNGFA senior vice-president John Wesley Gonjuan, told the media at the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby on Sunday that the congress reflected the spirit of democracy and transparency.
“All 18 presidents of the PNGFA have come together as one to exercise the true spirit of choosing the president they want to head the football in the country,” he said.
“I would also like to announce to all of our football stakeholders and partners such as the office of the Vice Minister Wesley Raminai, the FIFA, the Oceania Football Confederation, our business sponsors, partners, supporters and the playing young people in PNG that as of Saturday football in Papua New Guinea as come together as one body.
“This coming together for one PNGFA was commanded and tasked by FIFA that PNGFA must come as one football family. A MoU was signed by me, John Wesley Gonjuan (vice-president and FIFA general secretary’s office on September 28, 2018 signifies the transition that both factions must now aligned together, put our differences aside and take football to the people and this process was executed yesterday (Saturday).
“Not only that but I will do my best in making sure that FIFA, Oceania Football Confederation, PNG Football Association and corporate partners assistance are delivered to our PNG Football Association and to our member associations for the development of soccer,” Kapi Natto said.
