MFA claim double in Momase challenge

The newly established Morobe Football Association (MFA) men and women team are the new champions in the Momase region Besta FA Cup qualifiers.

In the men’s final Morobe Football Association beat Madang Soccer Association 3-1 in the penalty shoot-out.

After a regulation time and extra time, both teams drew 0-0 and the game was forced into the penalty shoot-out.

While in the women, MFA has proven too strong over Lae City to claim the women’s title.

MFA women will represent Mamose at the Besta National Cup in October in the women’s division, while MFA and Madang men will represent the region in the men’s division.

The three teams from Momase will take-on the regional champions from Southern, New Guinea Islands and Highlands in Lae on 26-29 October.

Local organising committee chairman Peter Seske praised and thanked all teams who took part in the four-day tournament.

“I’m pleased and happy with you all. I also thank all our supporting sponsors, who came on-board and supported the tournament,” Seske said.
