Momase Regional Soccer Body set to kick off Besta Qualifier

The annual PNG Football Association-sanctioned Besta FA Cup will kick off in July as per PNGFA Calendar.

With the Momase Regional Soccer Body intends to take the lead in bringing the game to rural areas and develop it from the ward level up.

The annual PNG Football Association-sanctioned Besta Cup soccer competition is a perfect platform to draw and promote the pool of talent available, especially from rural parts of the country apart from the known players in the major centres.

Momase Regional Soccer Body chairman Siegfried Beschel said, this was what the PNGFA ought to do in order to ensure that people took ownership of the game.

“The people own the game; PNGFA and people like us are only here to help promote it and take it the lowest possible level — from wards to LLGs and districts,” Beschel said.

“We are opening up the rural areas in Momase and want the same done in the other regions of the country.”

In living up to that, organisers and hosts of this year’s Momase-leg of the Best FA Cup have already confirmed twelve teams from Morobe Football Association, Madang Soccer Association, Wau Soccer Association, Ramu Sugar, Wewak Football Association, Maprik, Vanimo, Kairuru, Watut, Mumeng, Ambunti and Bulolo Urban.

While Buang, Finchafen, Walium, Bogia, Rungken, Karkar, Almami, Aitape and Angoram have yet to confirm their entrants to the annual competition.
