Much is at stake as competition winds down

The Port Moresby Soccer Association competition is gaining momentum week-in, week-out and will be heading into the finals play-off next weekend, president John Wesley Gonjuan says.

Since taking over as the PMSA president, Gonjuan has been tasked to ensure that the football population in the city is enjoying their favourite sport despite challenge that have faced.

As the competition winds down, the top five men’s premier teams securing a spot in the finals are Mungkas FC, Uni Inter FC, FC Genesis, Momase and Maclarens.

Mungkas have enjoyed a successful year this season with a consistent performance. The reigning premiers’ recent form has been outstanding and fruitful over the years.

Mungkas competing in the women’s premier and the women’s U-19 division is also a successful story. The premier women will play Guria in the final while their U-19 women will take on Uni Inter FC.

After last weekend’s matches, the unofficial competition table for men’s premier has Mungkas on 40 points followed by UIFC and FC Genesis on 32 points each while Momase and Maclarens round up the table with 22 points each.

Gonjuan said PMSA will play all its outstanding games this weekend and the finals will be played next weekend.
