Champion PMSA men’s Premier team Mungkas FC were crowned as the inaugural PMSA league champions at the final round of the Premier League over the Independence weekend.
Mungkas went out on a winning note beating Cosmos FC 3-0 after a scoreless first half.
After a strong talk at half time by coach David Passam, the Bougainville team came out firing with their usual one touch fast football and blasting home three unanswered goals while Cosmos had some chances but could not find the net.
Mungkas FC captain Abel Redenut presented the cup to team President Thomas Taberia who was a proud man congratulating his young team as he also celebrated his birthday also on Monday.
The champion club also farewelled their veteran player and goalkeeper Paul Peter, while Cosmos also farewelled four of their star players and PMSA stalwarts in Simeon Ealedona, Fabian Bagi, Richard Lapan and Godfrey Dobbin.
PMSA vice president Joseph Ealedona said all other awards will be given out at the inaugural PMSA Awards night scheduled for October 6.
He thanked all clubs, players and supporters for the year adding PMSA will go one better next year with plans for an improved Premier League competition, both for men and women.
He said announcements will be made at the awards night.
