TWO new football associations are among the ten Provisional Associate Member Associations that will feature in the 2017 New Guinea Islands Besta FA Cup qualifiers next month.
The two associations are Arawa from the Autonomous Region of Bougainville and Sunam from Manus.
The Kimbe Football Association from West New Britain Province is hosting the tournament from August 22-27.
New Guinea Islands Football Federation president Maha Waname said the tournament which acts as a qualifier for the Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) run Besta Cup, will be staged over five days in Kimbe.
The associations and provisional associates confirmed to take part are: NBPOL Football Association, Kimbe Football Association, Sunam Football Association of Manus Island, Arawa Football Association of AROB, SBLC Buluma Football Association, Buvusi Football Association, Laheri Football Association, Bialla Football Association, Kavieng Football Association of New Ireland, Poliamba of New Ireland, Kumbango, Haella and Talasea.
“At this stage we envisage up to 14 men plus eight women teams from interest shown to participate in our NGI Besta FA Cup.
“We have confirmed the venue to be at the PNGFA Technical Centre at Gigo in Kimbe,” Waname added.
“I further urge all Provisional Associates Associations that they must comply with all requirements as an Associate Member.
“All fees must be paid before traveling to Kimbe,” Waname said.
Waname further reminded all teams to abide by the regulations set.
“This also includes provisional associates.
“Before you even think about travelling to Kimbe you must fulfill all requirements,” he reiterated.
He said failure to consult the NGI Office prior to travelling to Kimbe will result in teams not being included on the draw.
“Consult us or your participation will not be entertained,” he maintained.
All affiliation and nomination fees plus the PNGFA player registrations are to be paid to the Kimbe Football Association account number – BSP – 10001180878 before 31st of July.
The team managements meeting is scheduled for August 22.
Waname further reminded that team managements must make sure they have their deposit receipts prior to recommendation from the NGI soccer office.
