PMSA soccer season to kick off

The Port Moresby Soccer Association is making a final reminder to all clubs to register before the proper season kicks off this weekend (May 19-20) at Bisini Soccer Oval in Port Moresby.

Clubs are reminded that the following forms are needed to be completed before the season kicks off: Club registration form; Player registration form; Team registration form; and Master team sheet form.

Competition manager Paul Karambi said PMSA has received overwhelming interest for the 2018 season proper.

“We have a total of 44 clubs with 16 new ones while 39 are existing clubs based on 2017 figures,” Karambi said. 

He said of the 39 clubs from 2017 figures, 11 did not indicate to participate this year.

PMSA will have Premier League, Division One, Division Two, Division Three and Division Four for this season.

All divisions will comprise of eight teams, except Division Four will have twelve teams. The Premier League will have senior men, senior women and under 18 (boys/girls). Division One and Division Two will have senior men, senior women and under 18 boys while Division Three will have only senior men.  A total of 100 teams look set to take part in this year’s season proper competition.

Last year’s season was a good measure of success for PMSA. Mungkas FC winning 5 out of 36 awards. Mungkas FC winning 5 out of 36 awards.
