THE Papua New Guinea Football Association received a K35, 000 boost supporting the men’s senior team preparing for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifier – OFC Stage 3.
The support was made by NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
During the cheque presentation ceremony yesterday, Parkop said: “Let us take this opportunity to prove our capabilities so we can go further up the rank.
The gesture is timely as it will be used to help the PNG team’s preparations.
PNGFA senior vice president John Wesley Gonjuan thanked Parkop for the support and assured him that the funding will be used for its intended purpose.
“It is a big task for PNG as we can only give our best shot for the World Cup Qualifiers,” Wesley said.
The chairman of the Supporters Club, Dr Miok Komolong also expressed gratitude to the governor and appealed to business houses and corporate houses to join hands together and support the national team.
PNG is pooled with Solomon Islands and Tahiti and PNG will play its first match against Tahiti in Port Moresby on March 23.
They will travel the following week to Tahiti for their away match on March 28 in Papeete.
