PS Huawei FC got their season off on the right note by coming from behind to beat a talented Besta PNG United 2-1.
Besta PNG led from an individual effort from left-flanker Barthy Kerobin who used his speed to outrun the PS Ruts right-side defence before his deadly strike to lead 1-0
The Lae-based academy side actually dominated the match with their slick ball passing game, and should have taken the match.
Their finishing off lacked potent and PS Huawei goal-keeper Junior Kaprangi deserved some accolades for several telling saves.
But full credit must go to PS Ruts for plugging away in the hot muggy conditions for the win.
The other match between Buang FC of Mount Hagen and Southern Strikers of Port Moresby did not eventuate.
The Southern Strikers failed to turn up, giving Buang FC the easiest of wins.
Unofficial ladder: Buang FC 3, PS Huawei 3, Madang FC 1, Lae City Dwellers 1, Besta PNG United 0 and Southern Strikers 0.
