Red Card appeal referred to FIFA Disciplinary Committee

PNG Football Association has appealed to FIFA requesting to rectify obvious errors in the referee’s disciplinary decisions with regard to the red card resulting in David Eric Brown sent off in the 22nd minute of Thursday’s 1-3 loss to Tahiti.

He was given his marching orders in unjust fashion in the early minute of play after defender Taumihau Tiatia went down under what appeared to be an innocuous challenge.

FIFA has acknowledged receipt of the letter but will refrain from reviewing the decisions taken by the referee but the case will be submitted to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee when they meet on 20 April 2017.

The decision from the referee is final as we waits for the FIFA Disciplinary Committee decision during the aforementioned meeting.

It leaves Browne one match ban but will be free to play against Solomon Islands on the 5th April 2017 in PNG’s away match in Solomon Islands.

Papua New Guinea will play Tahiti tomorrow in their second Group B match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Qualifier – OFC Stage 3 at Stade Pater without Browne.
