Wau Soccer Association in the mining township of Bulolo district is gearing up for grand final after successfully completed its semi-final last weekend, says President Shem Farrock.
It was a competitive semi-final atmosphere for teams as they put on their best to survive the cut.
The B division and women’s A League division had the most entertaining matches with both division finding the going bumpy.
According to Wau Soccer Association president Shem Farrock, B division saw Elai edged Wara Bulolo 1-0 and Naja beat Damtuk 5-4 in the penalty shootout while for the women’s A-League division Damtuk drowned minor premiers Neighbours 5-4 in the penalty shootout and Erenge defeated Solumarex 1-0.
Naja will now face off Elai for the B division grand final while Damtuk will play Erenge in the women’s A League grand final.
In the boys U19 semi-final, Hard Rocks crushed Junior Tobula 5-0 while Naja secure a 1-0 win over Ela Mandiko. The grand final will see Hard Rocks taking on Naja while Tobula and Ela Mandiko will battle it out for the third and fourth placing.
In the men’s A League, Dugar advance to the grand final defeating Mount Mines 2-0 while Hard Rocks cracked Yanga 2-1. Mount Mines will face off Yanga in the third and fourth placing.
Farrock was happy with crowd attendance who came in numbers to cheer on their teams playing in the Wau Soccer Association competition.
In thanking all participating teams, Farrock reminded them the grand final will on November 10, 2018.
Farrock also congratulate Mr John Kapi Natto on behalf of Wau Soccer Association for being elected as the new PNGFA President.
He said Wau Soccer Association is looking forward to work closely with the new PNGFA President to develop football in the country.
