The Port Moresby Soccer Associations begins their pre-season on Sunday with the aim to step up from last year’s performance especially with the premier teams.
Competition manager Paul Karambi said Moresby Soccer Association’s major challenge last year was the large number of teams with few venues so this season they would restrict numbers at the start of the season.
“Last year we had 113 teams and because of venues and also teams’ consistency, we have decided to have 72 teams in all divisions so we can be able to run the competition efficiently,” he said.
“We also intend to put our technical department to task running coaching clinics for our coaches and referees with the aim to step up from last year’s standard especially with our premier teams.”
He said this year PMSA is looking at working closely with School Soccer to create a pathway for young players to expose to senior competitions.
