Southern teams ready for Besta Cup

TWELVE soccer associations have confirmed their participation in the Southern Regional Besta Cup qualifying tournament which will kick off tomorrow at Bisini Soccer Ground in the National Capital District.

NCD Suburban, Kaufa, Vakena, Karekodobu, Alotau and POM School Soccer Association are the new teams while Lower Sogeri, Kamali, Hoods, Karawa, Boregaina and Port Moresby Soccer Association will appear again in this year’s competition.

PMSA, POM School Soccer and Lower Sogeri will field both men’s and women’s team, NCD Suburban will field women’s team while the rest will field only men’s team.

The leading soccer association in the Southern region, the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA), will field in four teams comprising of two men and two women.

All teams will assemble tomorrow morning at Bisini Soccer Ground for the opening ceremony followed by official kick off of the four-day tournament.

Port Moresby Soccer Association, the host association will be well conditioned and expected to defend their title.

The winner’s after the four-day tournament will then compete in the semi-finals against other regional champions to be played in Lae in September.
