LAE’S Toti City FC (formally known as Lae City Dwellers) are ardent to start season 2018 on a winning edge to maintaining an unbeaten run last year with the inclusion of five new faces, among them two Solomon Island recruits.
Toti FC coach Peter Gunemba confirmed yesterday the signing of Solomon Islanders and former Hekari United FC winger Tutizama Tanito and Andrew Rarangia from Andersons Hill FC.
The others are Clement Willis of Mungkas (Port Moresby), Joel Seski and goalkeeper Dennis Gani from the Toti FC development program.
Gunemba said the return of Nigel Dabinyaba to the side will see him as assistant captain to Raymond Gunemba while others still in the side include Obert Bika, Valentine Nelson, Ronald Warisan, Troy Gunemba and Mathew David to name a few.
He also decided to keep Koroko Albert from Chimbu Province, who was one of the original members of the City Dwellers, to boost their backline.
Gunemba said having attended the OFC Champions League twice with the City Dwellers therefore it was important to keep him. He will still be part of City Dwellers under sponsor Lae Biscuit through its Toti brand of biscuit. He should be taking the field at left back.
In light of the 2018 OFC Champions League campaign, Gunemba said Toti City FC will be taking every game starting tomorrow as a lead-up preparation.
Gunemba said they are expected to play four NSL games before departing for the 2018 Champions League campaign next month.
He is also wary of the challenge against Besta United FC when they meet tomorrow.
He said Besta FC comprise of members of the PNG Under-17 team and are a developing side that has been consistent and are expected to put up a strong challenge.
Gunemba also acknowledged the support of Lae Biscuit Company through their biscuit brand Toti that should boost their morale.
